getting ready to leave
Zachary didn't fit in the suitcase so I guess he can't come :-) Shame, because his new beach outfits (size 2 and 3 yrs btw) are really cute.

We're off on monday night, and I'm staving off travel panic by pretending I don't know it. Good news - its working ;) LALALALALALA.
PS? The fuzzy track suit pants he's wearing - also cuddly. Just FYI.

Bad Mommy, No posting
Big adventures in Zachary land. He now eight months old (on friday the 13th, a lucky day for most). Motion has become the new thing, and he's alllll over the place. i'm terrified because I know its only a question of days before he realizes this... if he lifts his belly off the ground, he'll go fast. I keep threatening to get out the ankle weights to slow him down. I think this might be the new trend in babyproofing. You heard it here first.
Food is becoming common place. He's not superkeen on the mushy veg (no real surprise here, is there? Is anyone keen on mushy veg? Please english people. Do not comment. You only developed mushy peas to hide their sketchy several day old nature. Not because they were meant to be eaten that way.) But he is enjoying yogurt the last few days. And we've gone for bits of bread too. We figure that'll help us be ready for our upcoming trip. Because we hear french & english supermarkets may not have rice chex. Please don't tell Zachary. He will be heartbroken. It is his first addiction. Mark was giving him some yogurt for dinner (which he was grooving on, as well as he can groove when totally exhausted). And I got out the box of chex to give him a few to round out his meal. He heard the crinkle of the inner bag and the shake of the box and he snapped out of his crazy baby zone out. He suddenly swivelled around with eagle eyes and was like I KNOW THAT SOUND. He watched me without blinking till I sacrificed a few chex his way. He snatches them up like they are going out of style.
In other news, today we went to Daniel & Jorge's wedding at Rodeph Sholom (our temple). It was absolutely fantastic. Zachary danced his first hora, saw his first chuppah, and in general rejoiced with the Groom & Groom. He behaved, and got a spin in the temple mini gym. Just the nursery school play room, but lots of roly poly furniture and foam things to climb on. Lots of babies and fun, exactly how weddings are meant to be. Thanks, guys :) Michigan is lucky to have you.
On that note, off to bed. Carrying a 25lb baby, no matter how cheerful he is? That'll make your arms tired. At least he holds on to help.
The second best chew toy ever
What's up doc?

yum sand
sandpit @ dolphin park -playing with sand
Originally uploaded by m0nk3yphd
I thought the shadows made for a good photo, and in this highly recommend, nyc apt sized, toddler park there was about 30 kids and there parents. It was little hectic but worth the walk since the park has a lock box filled with puzzles and games, as well as a playground area, sandpit (obviously) and just behind zachary is the water fountain. A dolphin the kidlets can climb on and a mouth that spouts a watering-can like spray to run under and cool off, in our current heat wave. (it was in the high 90's) . Now I've gotten all excited about it again, we might just have to make the trip this afternoon.

Zachary likes to eat grass

As for sand, Zachary hit the sandpit at our synagogue after tot-shabbat this morning. He lurved grabbing, piling and generally digging around in the sand but very little actually went near his face. Of course he still needed a full shake down to remove the mess.

New meaning to leading on
The cat encourages Zachary to crawl, little does Linus know that this could get dangerous.

crawling at columbia ... well almost
taken on my NEW cell (mobile) phone
Mom edit: Crawling? You mean wriggling. And testing the pants for stain resistance. And possibly thinking about yoga...
Zachary's New Trick
Ok, not a snappy name. But let me tell you, our plan this weekend was to do a heavy second babyproofing sweep (everything waist height down pretty much needs to be baby safe or away) and this just reinforced the urgency.
I was brushing my teeth and we were getting ready to head to school and usually he's content spinning on his belly for the thirty seconds I was out of the room. Hahahahaha... Man, this will not get better until he goes away to college, will it?

Play Date Picnic
We know Kresten and Mia (Sara's Parents) from our birthing class (hence the -2 months) and Sara is just 6 days older than Zachary. Kresten works with Paul, and Paul is married to Jeno (picnic organizer) who works with Sarah. I love how small the manhattan world is sometimes. And for further amusement Paul and Jeno are also a Biochemist and Astronomer couple.

Pool time!
Backstroke

Today was packed full of fun. First stop, the swimming pool! This is the first time Zachary has been in big water. He had lots of fun. Mark did not drop him. These are all important things. The water is pretty chlorine-y, but everyone came home and had a bath so it was ok.
And a little action....
